Biography
Bio
Selena Pacheco, a Pomona gem originally hailing from the vibrant South Side of Chicago, has transformed her passion for social equity into a career that shines brighter than California sunshine. With a BA in Sociology and a Minor in Chicano Studies from the illustrious Pomona College, she became an unstoppable force for community activism. Now serving as the Sr. Outreach Coordinator at GRID Alternatives, Selena is on a mission to make renewable energy accessible to Los Angeles"s historically underserved neighborhoods.
Her journey began with GRID Alternatives as a Community Partner, where she swiftly climbed the ranks to earn an AmeriCorps fellowship—because why take the stairs when you can leap? Over her six-year tenure, Selena has helped over 1,900 families embrace solar power while simultaneously empowering local residents with green-tech job training. If anyone can turn sunlight into savings and opportunity, it’s her.
When not advocating for clean energy or championing workforce development initiatives, you might find this dynamic leader at community workshops or retreats—where she effortlessly combines inspiration with camaraderie (and maybe even some dance moves). Her certifications in CPR and first aid suggest that she"s not just saving communities; she’s ready to save lives too!
With her heart firmly rooted in equity and sustainability, Selena is not just bringing light; she’s illuminating pathways toward justice and opportunity for all. In short: if there were an Olympic event for outreach coordination and community empowerment—Selena would take home gold!
